Pata-Pata-Pata-Pon

Over the last weekend, I was absolutely head-over-heels, addicted and in love with the new game I started playing on PSP. I could play this game non-stop for several hours and not feel tired at all. I blame it on Saucer for letting me play this game. -.-" Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to the wonder of wonders of the games... *drum rolls* ... Patapon!

These amazingly cute creatures with even cuter voices are going to melt all your hearts, I tell you. I am very impressed with the creator of this game, who made it so attractively catchy and not too difficult to play. For those of you who are not familiar with this game, it basically uses combination of drum beats to move forward, attack or defend Patapons from the enemies. Patapons are actually some kind of community in the game and they are the 'good ones', defending themselves from monsters and evil Zigotons. Within the Patapons clan, there are several characters who play important role in defending their clan, such as Yuripons (Patapons with spears), Tatepons (Patapons with axes) and Yumipons (great archers). As you can see, each Patapon has different role and together, they form an army which would work together to attack the evil Zigotons!

There are different combination of drum beats for different actions. For example, to move forward, the beat would be 'Pata-Pata-Pata-Pon', which literally translates to pressing 'square-square-square-circle' on the PSP. To attack, the combination is 'Pon-Pon-Pata-Pon', translating to 'circle-circle-square-circle' on PSP. As you can see, this game requires very good orientation and memory skills because you need to remember up to 6 combinations for different actions. Furthermore, you need to enter the drum beats according to a rhythm. If you're faster or slower then it wouldn't work! A correct drum beat rhythm of up to 10 times in a roll would result in a phenomenon called 'Fever', in which case all the Patapons have extra power and triple their attacks. In order to maintain this Fever mode, the drum beats MUST be entered at the correct rhythm. Mind you, even a half second off-rhythm would be detected and you would lose the Fever mode. :(

There are some very cute antics by these Patapons. For one, when I accidentally pressed an invalid combination of drum beats, the Patapons would go 'Hah?' and some would even spin and faint, an indirect way for them to show you this: -.-". Is that cute or is that cute!!! I highly recommend this game to everybody! It doesn't only appeal to girls because I saw Saucer getting early symptoms of addiction as well. :P As for me, I am absolutely in love with Patapon and their cute voices. And I'm proud to say that my army is already the maximum number of 18 Patapons. :P (You only get to start with 1 Patapon at first and you need to collect items and money to buy more and more Patapons)

But beware though, there is a danger to this Patapon game. It leaves you singing their chants all the time, even during shower! Just this morning when I was taking my bath, my mind was repeating the chants 'Pata-Pata-Pata-Pon' by those cute creatures. Playing with this game too much would definitely lead you to have this symptom of their chants playing in your head. *LOL*

What do you think of the video? For those who have PSP, MUST try out this game ok! :)
