Kirishima still rocks!

Remember a few months ago, I visited Kirishima and mentioned how wonderful their egg salad was? Recently, my friend wanted to have Japanese food so we decided to pay Kirishima a visit again. Of course, my main attraction was the half-boiled egg salad, which is not in the new menu anymore. However, I managed to find out the name for this salad, so you can still order it even though it's not in the menu. :) It's called Onsen tamago salada, and it's fabulous. :)

For this visit, I ordered something new, which is the soft shell crab roll. It's covered with fish roe and the crab meat was deliciously crispy and meaty. Definitely a must-try there.

Ever wondered how the Japanese would cook foie gras a.k.a. goose liver? Wonder no more, because Kirishima now has foie gras as starter in their new menu. To be frank, I'm never a fan of foie gras, so I didn't really appreciate this dish. I guess it's an acquired taste, and it's a strong taste at that. Maybe you'd like it. :)

As for my main course, I ordered the cod fish set meal, which came with a small bowl of salad, chawan mushi (steamed egg), miso soup, pickled vegetables, fruits and rice. If you notice the rice below, Kirishima has changed their normal and plain white rice to a flavoured type of rice. I do not know how to describe it but the rice now has its own taste and fragrance, and I like it! :) Tastes good even on its own. Besides, the cod fish was nicely grilled without losing its freshness. Each piece of fish meat is smooth and firm and yummy!

Finally, my friend ordered the sushi set meal, consisting of an array of different sushi and a plate of tempura. If you notice the tea pot in the picture, that was actually the soup for the set! I was wondering why there was a tea pot in the set at first, when I found out that it actually contained soup. *LOL* As you can see from the picture, the sushi pieces were all very fresh, but of course, you wouldn't expect anything less from Kirishima. :)

Do pay them a visit! And don't forget the salad! Now you know the name. :)

Yum! Though I am not a huge fan of half-boiled eggs, the picture and your comment is getting me to consider trying it ;-)

soo sean: Yea! Better try it out in case they really discontinue the dish for good. :)

ck lam: Kirishima quality is always above average, I'd say. :) Oh the foie gras is in the first few pages of the menu, I think. :)

renaye: Greens are good for health! Haha... I'm also a fan of soft shell crabs :)

petite lass: Oh you have to! You won't even notice the egg is there once you stir it in! :)
